Start with what you are holding
Someone gave you a copy of their plan - printed out, emailed to you, or simply talked through with you in person. However you came by it, it is yours to use now. It should say where the important things are kept, such as documents and account details, and who to contact first.
There is no deadline on any of this. Read it through when you are ready, and go back to it as many times as you need to.
If you are handling things yourself
If the tasks now fall to you, AfterLoss has a bereavement guide that walks through what needs doing after a death, step by step, in plain English - things like registering the death, arranging the funeral, and letting the right organisations know.
It is built to work from exactly the kind of information held in the plan you are holding, so if you have it to hand, you already have a head start.
What we can and cannot share
An AfterLoss account belongs to the person who made it. We do not hand over sign-in access to it, not to family and not to anyone else.
If documents or details were stored with AfterLoss, contact support@afterloss.uk and let us know the situation. We will explain what is possible, and we will always tell you honestly what we can and cannot do.
