Muslim Council of Britain (MCB)¶
The Muslim Council of Britain is the largest cross-denominational umbrella body for Muslim organisations in the UK, with several hundred affiliated mosques, schools, charities, and professional networks. For families arranging a Muslim funeral, the MCB is a useful starting point in two situations: where there is no existing connection to a local mosque, and where the family needs guidance on a question their local mosque has not previously encountered (urgent burial during a coroner's investigation, mixed-faith arrangements, repatriation). The MCB does not itself arrange funerals. That work is done by the local mosque, the National Burial Council, the Muslim Association of Funeral Directors, and individual specialist funeral directors. Its role is co-ordination, public representation, and signposting.

Our Muslim funeral customs in the UK guide explains where the MCB sits in the wider UK Muslim community infrastructure for bereavement support. Funeral Wishes records the masjid and observance preferences the deceased wanted followed, so the rapid decisions of an Islamic funeral are made from a clear brief.
