National Burial Council (NBC)¶
The National Burial Council is the professional body representing Muslim funeral directors and bereavement services across the UK. It maintains a directory of cemeteries with Muslim sections, accredits member funeral firms against a code of practice, and provides guidance for families and for non-Muslim executors arranging a Muslim funeral. For a UK Muslim family arranging a funeral, the NBC's two most useful resources are its cemetery directory (which combines dedicated Muslim cemeteries and council cemeteries with Muslim sections) and its member-firm directory (used to find a funeral director with explicit experience of Islamic burial, ghusl facilities, and shroud-only burial where the cemetery permits it).

Our burial rights in the UK guide explains where the National Burial Council sits alongside individual cemeteries and burial authorities. Information and Documents stores the deed of grant, plot reference, and any cemetery correspondence together, so the burial paperwork is together when it is needed years later.
