AfterLoss Communications (CommKit)¶
CommKit is the AfterLoss feature for telling organisations someone has died. It is a library of pre-written phone scripts and email drafts covering the eighteen organisations a typical UK family contacts after a death, organised so an executor can work through them in the order they actually need to do them.
What it does¶
Each script names the line you ring or the address you write to, sets out what the organisation will ask for, gives you the words to say or send, and notes what happens next. Scripts are grouped into four practical categories: notifications (registrar, Tell Us Once, DWP, HMRC, Royal Mail Bereavement, MPS, the Bereavement Register); financial (banks, NS&I, pension providers); property and utilities (energy, water, broadband, TV Licence); and digital. Inside an AfterLoss case the scripts are populated with the deceased's details and tracked alongside the rest of the work; a contact attempted, a reference number given, a reply received.
What problem it solves¶
After a death, the same conversation repeats twenty or thirty times: the deceased's name, the date of death, the reference number, the question of whether the account holder was sole or joint. CommKit removes the work of inventing the words for each call, so the executor can move through the list quickly and consistently, with a written record of what was said and what the organisation promised.
Where it sits in the procedural sequence¶
CommKit is the doing layer that sits across most of the guides on the wiki. Notifications are typically the first work after registration; see notifying banks after a death, stopping benefits after a death and closing utility accounts for the procedural framing. The scripts themselves are the practical companion to those guides.
Public access¶
The Scripts Hub at afterloss.uk/scripts is the public, no-account version of the script library. Anyone can read, copy, and use the scripts there. Inside an AfterLoss case the same scripts are personalised with the deceased's details, tracked against progress, and linked to the contacts and documents in the same workspace.
Use this feature¶
Read the scripts at afterloss.uk/scripts, or start a case to use them with progress tracking and personalisation.
