Form PA1S is the postal alternative to the Find a Will online service. It is used to search the Probate Registry for grants and wills, or to lodge a standing search that automatically supplies the will when probate is granted within the search period. A postal search costs £16 for the search and a copy of the probate record (and any attached will). The same form is used to apply for a standing search, which costs £3 and lasts for 6 months, after which it can be extended.
